Empowering Self Esteem Activities To Boost Your Confidence

Self esteem activities are a great way to boost your confidence and give you the tools you need to be who you want to be.

Our previous articles relating to self-esteem have included an explanation of what it is, a definition of low self-esteem, and a questionnaire to help you evaluate yourself. Positive self-esteem is what enables us to deal successfully with our emotions of triumph, despair, pride, and shame. Now, we are suggesting a number of practical tasks that you can undertake that will help develop and enhance your sense of self-worth and boost your self-confidence. The reality is that if you suffer from low self-esteem your first step is to make the decision to do something about it. Once you have decided to overcome the psychological barrier you can proceed to the practicalities. Our MommaBearz team has prepared a short list of 10 basic self-esteem activities to get you started on the road to re-building your self-respect, and here they are:

Know what you want and be prepared to get it is key !

Goal setting Tips:
  • Always state your goals in the positive

  • Keep the goal within your control

  • List your goals in detail

  • Be aware that your goals are

  • State your goals in the present tense as if they are already achieved

Write about your

  • Strengths

  • Good Traits

  • Achievements

  • Successes

Do an Appreciation Exercise

Prepare a special notebook – call it "My attitude to gratitude" 10 minutes before you go to sleep, and for 10 minutes after you wake, write 10 things that you are grateful for. Write about 50 words for each. Small things are also important.

Here are some other great self esteem building activities you can also do:
  • Write yourself Compliments and acknowledge your successes

  • Write and speak out loud Positive Affirmations

  • Make a Personal Success Scrapbook

  • Make a Happiness List

  • Do some visualizations of positive things in your life

Get into Meditation Self Esteem

Tips on how to do it:
  • Take some time off - start with 5 minutes

  • Turn off the phone. You can either sit or lie down

  • Focus your attention on your breathing

  • Relax your body with every breath out

  • Focus on your breathing and relax some more

Do this regularly, preferably daily. Focus on Self Appreciation. Make an Pride List. Start each sentence with "I am so proud of myself for...". Fill in every aspect of your life where know you choose the right thing to do. If you find it difficult to make a "pride list", just think about what you do every day. You'll be surprised how many things you can be proud of. We are sure that if you try these even some of these self esteem activities, it will make a major difference to your outlook on life. We think that American journalist, Gloria Steinem summed it up best when she said: "Self-esteem isn't everything; it's just that there's nothing without it".
